Merton walked down the stairs and into the lair. Surprisely, it had been a slow week in Pleasantville, and the full moon wouldn't be until the following night. He had just finished watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (what was new. lol). Setting down his bottle of yoo-hoo, next to the computer, he sat down in his chair and logged onto the net, doing a bit of research.

Not long after Merton went to the computer, Tommy was let in and started down the stairs quietly. Because, he saw him there, he was purposely trying to be sneaky. His footsteps barely made a sound and he tried to creep down without him knowing. He tried to withhold a smirk that was appearing on his face. Well, if he wasn't noticed then it wouldn't matter anyway!
Hoping that he hadn't noticed, he made his way up behind him. Without so much as a warning, he reached out and seized his friend by the shoulders and let out a yell to try to startle him.

Of course, Merton hadn't noticed his friend sneaking down the stairs. He was too busy doing a little research. About the usual (werewolves, vampires, ect.) So, no, he didn't notice Tommy there at all. So, when he siezed Merton's shoulder and let out a yell, Merton couldn't help but jump, his right hand clutching his shirt like he always did when he got scared like that. Merton looked up at Tommy. "Don't do that."

When his plan worked, Tommy let out a laugh as he stepped back. He couldn't help it! It was just too fun not to do it. But, when he told him not to do that, he flashed an innocent smile. "What'd I do?" He asked, as if he hadn't done anything at all. But, they both knew better. As he noticed the computer screen, he stepped closer again to look at the screen.
"What're you looking up?" He asked, just out of curiosity, of course. Though, even as he asked, there was still that hint of a smile from scaring him just seconds before. Hey, he thought it was kind of funny.

Merton just shook his head, a bit disapprovingly. "You know what I'm talking about." He then looked back at the computer screen. "I'm just doing some research on lycanthropy." He scrowled down the screen farther. "But so far I haven't really found anything I didn't already know."

Of course he did! But, he insisted on shaking his head again, as if he didn't have a clue. "I don't think so," He replied, teasingly, but his eyes were on the screen again. He nodded a little bit when he said what he was researching. "Any clues as to, I don't know, a cure?" He asked casually, his thoughts had taken that path again. Every so often they did, so it was no surprise. Sometimes he thought a little much on being normal again, while other times, it wasn't so bad at all. But, this was one of those other times.

"Nothing new. Just the usual cures that I've already mentioned in the past." Merton scrowled down some, before shutting off his computer. He turned to his best friend. Sure, he knew that if Tommy ever was cured, then there was a slight possibility that the two may not be friends. And of course, Merton didn't want that. But he would still try and help his friend no matter what the cost.

Tommy nodded, he kind of figured that since it hadn't been mentioned before. Not to mention he was saying that he wasn't seeing anything new. But, he thought to ask anyway. After a second, he sighed out loud out of boredom. "This is boring. You sure there isn't anything evil lurking around?" He asked, just bored and it had been so slow this week, it was a little bit offsetting and surprising. Not that he minded some peace, he really did, it was just strange.

Merton stood up. "There's gotta be something. I mean, evil just doesn't stay away from Pleasantville. Especially not for a whole week." That was true. But what the pair didn't know was that not to far away, there was a syndicate...an evil werewolf syndicate. Who would be wanting Tommy, wanting to make Tommy one of them. And they would most likly do anything to get what they want. Even using a certain best friend as bait. The perfect plan, right?
((Actually, just think of a name for your evil werewolf. You can always use him here, and make him later. Mine's name is Aphrodite. I just made her so you know.))
Aphrodite was a newborn werewolf. She was actually a student at Pleasantville High. Until last week. She was bitten, and since the night before was a full moon, the tranfermation was complete. There was no saving her now. Now she was one of them.

As Merton stood up, Tommy crossed his arms, a thoughtful look against his features. "Maybe, we're just missing something." And that wasn't a comforting thought in the least. If they were missing out on anything, that meant that there could be lives at stake and they didn't even know it. A concerned expression crossed his face when he thought about his own words. It could be anything. And he really meant anything, when he thought about it.

"Missing something?" Merton thought about that for a moment. It was very possible. A week with no evil doers just never happened in Pleasantville. "That is very possible. Let's think about this. Has anything strange happened lately? Any students gone missing?"

If only Tommy had paid closer attention to the rest of the student population. He hadn't noticed anyone missing-- Not that couldn't have been out sick. He never actually heard rumour that someone had really just disappeared. But, there were ways to find out and because he was hoping for a little action, he slowly smiled. "You know, we could find out..." He began, since he didn't know for sure whether or not anyone was missing and trying to recall wasn't going to help. "The school has attendance records."

Merton grinned. "Well, we could sneak in. Although..." He looked at his friend up and down. "Maybe you should wear something a little less conspicuious." Neither one of them would realize that there would be kids missing that have never missed school before. "Come on. We should get down to the school right away." Merton grabbed his keys to the hearse from his dresser.

"Hey!" Tommy exclaimed, as if his lack of being inconspicuous was somehow insulting. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" He asked, already starting for the door. He had no idea that they were actually going to be able to discover something. He was just hoping that there'd be a little more excitement and Pleasantville was far too quiet lately. He just couldn't trust a silence like that. There was always something evil and right now shouldn't be an exception.

Merton just shook his head. "you've seen movies, right? People breaking into buildings and such? Well, they're usually wearing all black. But let's just hope no one notices you." He couldn't help but grin. It was almost like he was getting Tommy back for sneaking up on him. "Let's go." Merton closed his lair door behind him and up the stairs. Once in his hearse, he started up the car, waiting for Tommy to get in.
